LAST ROUND OF THE HOME & AWAY SEASON - LET’S GO!

LET’S FINISH THIS OFF 💪

LAST ROUND OF THE HOME & AWAY SEASON - LET’S GO!

It was a great weekend for footy and we saw a round of mixed results -

some wins, some losses and a draw.

The Rising Stars Women started the round off with a narrow loss to Eastlake on Friday night. It was a case of ‘what could have been’ with the girls having more scoring shots than their opposition. The Rising Stars Men enjoyed another win, with a 29 point victory over Ainslie at Alan Ray Oval. Both teams head into the final round looking to finish off the home and away season positively before they tackle their finals campaign.

Both the 1st and 2nd Grade Women’s teams had great games. The 2nd Grade Women took an early lead and maintained that at all breaks. They weren’t able to sustain this with a fast finishing Ainslie but were all smiles as the final siren sounded and enjoyed a draw. The 1st Grade Women played an awesome game and beat Ainslie soundly. This great form will place them well as they finish the home and away season and move

into the finals.

The 1st and 2nd Grade Men’s teams did not get wins this round but the energy, positivity and focus of these teams was clearly evident. The 2nd Grade Men had a strong 1st half and went into the break only 3 goals down. The 2nd half was one they would prefer to forget and they know they will need to lift and prepare well as they go into this weeks game ready to take it up to Eastlake. The 1st Grade Men had a tough tussle all day and with some straight kicking the final result may have been a different outcome. They will have a tough game against Eastlake and a win is what they will be expecting of themselves.

The 3rd Grade Men certainly ended their 2024 season with a fast finish. A final game at home, with lots of support wasn’t able to get them over the line on this occasion. It was a massive turnaround from the last time they played. They only went down by 7 points compared to the heavy loss they had the last time they played.

Player Profiles

WILL ‘AXE’ AXELBY – Axe is our super loud running half back! He can talk, and talk and talk, mostly about himself. But he backs that up on the field with his speed, flair and the ability to switch from defence to attack and drive play forward. He’s a joker but he is also a top bloke who loves his footy, his mates and the Club! READ MORE HERE

LUCY ‘KNOXY’ KNOX – Lucy is our tackling machine who also loves kicking goals! Lucy is a defensive weapon with great intercept marking ability and transition play to set up scoring opportunities. Luce takes her marking skills down forward and positions herself in the right place at the right time to kick crucial goals. Lucy is a lovely smiling face around the Club but rarely caught with a grin once she steps over the white line! READ MORE HERE
